Dear Reader,
If you love books as much as I do, you have probably noticed the recent deterioration in the number of fellow bookworms out there. You ask your friends, co-workers and family, “Do you read?” and they all give you the alien-from-mars look and say, “No!”
If you really think about it though, it’s entirely untrue. Between text messaging and the internet, people are reading more than ever. The catch is, they’re not reading books.
Uninvoked is an experimental project to bring together both the wonders of a great novel, and the convenience of the internet. It is not a book, nor is it exactly a blog either. Keep watching this story as it grows and takes on it’s true identity.
Hope you enjoy!

Liking the idea, glanced through chapter one.
I hear you sister! It’s especially sad when you ask the younger generation and they look at you and go “is that on xbox or Wii?”
all the best for the new year, btu how true these words ring.
Thank you. I’m confident 2010 is going to be a great year for writers everywhere. Happy new year!
I mourn the anticipated loss of the smell, the crispness in the texture of real paper and the the pure pleasure of getting lost in a good book. Curling up by the fire, on the beach or in the hammock with my laptop or , now, the Kindle just is not the same.. I am all for progress, love the internet, MP3, and other electronic marvels of this age… but I hope that we never stop enjoying ” a good read”
Hmm, nothing really does replace the feel of pages between the fingers does it? Perhaps not this generation, but the next one won’t understand at all -.-
Pretty soon, somebody will be selling “That Old Book Smell” on the street corners like crack cocaine for the remaining bookworms.
That’s hilarious. I can just imagine ^^
I like this concept. Is there a subscription link I’m overlooking?
you can subscribe in a reader at the bottom of each chapter. I should probably put one on the bottom of this one too, eh?
This is true. I’ve found, though, that if I’m out somewhere with my Kindle, it attracts a lot of questions, so I’m hoping something like that — compact, easy to carry, with cheaper books, able to download material wirelessly — might revitalize the book market somewhat. I think the price needs to come down first though.
I’d pay $300 for the kindle if every book I downloaded was $0.99 instead of $10. I feel the Kindle is ridiculous! Almost all the books I want to buy are under $10 anyway. Why pay $300 in order to pay $10 to get…nothing…in the physical sense? It would be worth while if the books themselves were cheaper, or the Kindle was free.
As a retired librarian, I worry about all the distractions that take people away from books and literature.
Reply from Uninvoked Author: That is definitely a huge concern. I sort of wish the libraries where I live now weren’t so–so–unimpressive. I stop in once every 2-3 months asking about new books, and they never have any. Never.
I just began reading your experimental online novel and so far I’m very intrigued. My fiance and I love the idea behind it – we had never thought of the fact that people DO read, they just don’t read books. I think it’s because this is a multi-tasking generation. If you’re reading online, you can click to other things. A physical book is your only focus.
Reply from Uninvoked Author: I can’t wait to hear what you think of my book. It’s very exciting to have so many readers, and such a huge response from them. I’ve gotten a couple of fan letters for my short stories, but hearing every reader thought at every chapter has been an amazing experience for me.
Cool idea, I’ll read up now!

FABULOUS plan. Will most definitely be following this
Love this idea
Hey, I saw you looking at my blog – thanks, by the way.
Sounds cool. And yeah, it annoys me too when people don’t read. Why not? They miss out on so much.
Mind you, they all think I’m mad because I don’t watch much TV. Hello? I have a life?!
But anyway. You don’t want to listen to me moaning.
So, yeah, I just wanted to say hi. :_
This is such a cool idea!
Interesting theory. And what a great idea! I’ll definitely be poking around.
Thanks for the incredibly sweet comment on my blog.
